Lesley has paintings in private collections around the world.
She graduated in Fine Art from Aberystwyth University, having specialised in painting and illustration. Her first career was as a Medical Artist, which included ilustrating medical textbooks such as the world-famous Gray’s Anatomy. During this time she continued to paint in watercolours and oils.
Now painting full-time, Lesley is inspired by the natural world that surrounds her. She paints landscapes and seascapes outside to capture the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere.
Speed is essential; she can complete a small painting in three to four hours. Her larger pieces are painted back in her studio at home in Edinburgh.

Lesley has been particularly influenced by some landscape artists from the 19th and 20th centuries: the light effects of the Impressionists; the dark forests of Carl Schuch and Gustav Klimt; the immersion in nature of the Canadian Tom Thomson and the 'Group of Seven'.
She also has an affinity with the bold impasto style of the Welsh artist Kyffin Williams. She too mostly works with thick oil paint and palette knives.
